COVID-19 Lockdown Now In Effect In Halifax Area

A four-week COVID-19 lockdown is now in effect in Halifax and some surrounding communities.

The affected areas include all the Halifax Regional Municipality as well as the communities of Hubbards, Milford, Lantz, Elmsdale, Enfield, South Uniacke, Ecum Secum and Trafalgar.

The restrictions include an indoor and outdoor gathering limit of five people.

Retail businesses and malls can operate at 25 per cent capacity, while personal services such as hair salons, barber shops and spas are closed.

Most schools and all child care centres are staying open, but three families of schools and three Acadian Board schools are closing for two weeks.

People from outside the Halifax area are being told to avoid travelling there unless it’s absolutely necessary.
