Buckingham Palace says the 99 year-old husband of the Queen died this morning at Windsor Castle.
The Duke was married to Queen Elizabeth for more than 70 years and became the longest-serving consort in British history.
He carried out a busy programme of public engagements into his 90’s before retiring at the age of 96.
It’s expected Philip will be given a royal ceremonial funeral rather than a state funeral because that’s in line with his wishes.
