Province Expanding Eligibility For Vaccination Program

The province is further expanding its COVID-19 vaccination program.

Starting today, people aged 70 and older can book an appointment to get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at community clinics and participating pharmacies across the province.

Starting on Tuesday, people between the ages of 55 and 64 can book an appointment to get the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang continues to say the small risk of blood clots from the AstraZeneca shot is outweighed by the risk of COVID-19 and he’s still recommending the vaccine for people eligible to get it.

Premier Iain Rankin says the province has now given a first shot of COVID-19 vaccine to over 100,000 people.

He says the province is still on track to get a vaccine to everyone who wants one by the end of June.
