Changes Coming For Local Surgical and Endoscopy Services

The Health Authority is reconfiguring surgical and endoscopy services at three hospitals in the Regional Municipality.

It says the surgical service is relocating from the Glace Bay Hospital to the Regional Hospital in Sydney.

Meanwhile, surgeries that require general anesthesia are relocating from the Northside General Hospital to Glace Bay.

And endoscopy services at the Glace Bay Hospital and some endoscopies currently done at Regional Hospital are relocating to the Northside General Hospital.

Nova Scotia Health says the reason for the changes is to help improve the quality, safety and sustainability of services for people in the area.
