Council Passes Motion To Name Route 223 Cape Breton Highlanders Memorial Way

Council voted to support a request from the Cape Breton Highlanders reserve unit at last night’s Council meeting.

The regiment is asking that Highway 223 from Leitche’s Creek to Whycocomagh Bay be named “Cape Breton Highlanders Memorial Way.”

Mayor and Council voted to write to the province to ask for the designation.

Councillor Cyril MacDonald represents the area.

MacDonald says the designation will not affect addresses along Route 223 and is similar to the naming of the 125 Sydney Bypass as Peacekeepers Way.
