The Cape Breton Victoria Regional Centre for Education says all its buildings are closed today, as well.
The Regional Municipality says garbage collection is cancelled today.
However, Transit Cape Breton buses are still operating.
City Hall in Sydney is closed this morning and the situation will be reassessed at noon.
Meanwhile, all roads in Cape Breton are snow-covered and passable with caution with poor visibility in blowing snow.
