The Regional Municipality Is Hiring A New Police Chief

The Regional Municipality is going to hire a new police chief.

The move comes after Regional Councillors met in-camera yesterday afternoon to discuss the position of chief of police.

Peter McIsaac has been on a medical leave from his role as police chief since the summer of 2019.

Mayor Amanda McDougall announced the plan to search for a new police chief at the start of last night’s council meeting.

She says the search to fill the position will begin internally with the police service first, and the job will be advertised externally if it’s not filled through that process.

Deputy Police Chief Robert Walsh has been serving as acting police chief.
