New COVID Case Reported In Eastern Zone

The province is reporting one new case of COVID-19 today.

The new case is in the Eastern Zone and is related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada.

There’s now a total of 9 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia with one person in the province currently in hospital with the virus.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says public health measures remain necessary despite the province’s low case numbers.

However, Strang says some restrictions are being eased for sports and arts and culture activities.

The gathering limit for those activities is being increased from 50 to 60 without social distancing.

As of yesterday, 14,589 doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in the province.

Of those, 2,714 people have received their second dose.
