Ray Ivany Named To Order of Canada

Sydney native Ray Ivany is being named a member of the Order of Canada.

He’s one of 61 new Order appointments announced, today.

Today’s announcement says Ivany is being recognized for his steadfast commitment to higher education and public service in Nova Scotia.

Ivany is the former president of Acadia University and the Nova Scotia Community College.

He also served as executive vice-president at the University College of Cape Breton, now Cape Breton University.

He wrote the so-called Ivany Report as president and chair of the Nova Scotia economic commission.
