Legendary Cape Breton baseball coach Henry Boutilier has died. He was 67 years old.
The longtime manager of the Glace Bay Colonels was diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer last month.
Boutilier started in the dugout in 1979, leading the Colonels to five Canadian titles and making five trips to the Little League World Series over the course of his 40 years with the team.
Under his leadership, the Colonels would rack up 19 Maritime and 24 Provincial Championship titles between 1982 and 2015.
He also managed the Cape Breton Dodgers to back-to-back Canadian Big League Championships in 2009 and 2010.
He was inducted twice into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame; once in 2004 along with the 1987 Glace Bay Colonels, and again as a builder in 2019.
