Regional Municipality Asks For 60 Days To Release Port Information

The Regional Municipality is asking for 60 days to review material on the Port of Sydney the province’s information and privacy commissioner says should be released.

An unnamed person filed a request for all records involving the municipality’s decision to award an exclusive contract to promote a container terminal for Sydney.

The privacy commissioner’s office says all of the information should be released but the municipality only released 28 pages on the topic and held back over 800 pages.

Municipal solicitor Demetri Kachafanas says the information might include confidential material that could get the municipality into legal trouble if it’s released.
