People in the province are now being required to quarantine for 14 days if they’re hosting anyone from outside the Atlantic bubble.
The order applies to anyone else in the home.
Premier Stephen McNeil announced the order today, saying some recent COVID-19 cases came about because infected people exposed others while staying with them.
The announcement comes as the province reports another case in the Central Zone today.
Health officials say the person is a close contact of a previously reported case.
The province now has 16 confirmed active cases of COVID-19.
The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Strang, says people should limit their social interactions in order to control the spread of the virus.
Strang says he hasn’t seen any conclusive evidence yet of community spread but he adds he’s not ruling it out.
