Cape Breton firefighters get new funding
Eighteen volunteer fire departments across Cape Breton are getting a bump in funding to buy personal protective equipment, rescue equipment and firefighting gear.
They’re among 74 departments across the province to share in $1.25 million in funding for emergency equipment.
The fund provides financial assistance to fire departments to upgrade equipment that is used directly in response to a fire or emergency.
Organizations can access the fund every three years, and the program provides up to 75 per cent of eligible costs to a maximum of $20,000.
