Liquor Corporation Says Sales Up 5.3 Percent In First Quarter

The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation says its first quarter results for 2020 are unprecedented with people buying more from its stores with bars, pubs and restaurants closed because of COVID-19.

It says sales increased 5.3 per cent to 184.2 million dollars in the period from April 1st to June 28th.

The Liquor Corporation says there was a 24.4 per cent drop in the number of sales with people making fewer trips to its stores.

But the average dollar value of each sale increased 46.4 per cent.

There was a 6.8 per cent increase in earnings in the first quarter compared to the same period in the last fiscal year.
