Stats Canada says Cape Breton’s unemployment rate was 16.8 per cent in July.
That’s a drop of 1.8 percentage points from June but an increase of 4.7 percentage points compared to July of last year.
Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate was 10.9 per cent last month.
That’s a drop of 1.4 percentage points from June.
The country gained 419,000 jobs in July as the economy continued to open up from a COVID-19 shutdown.
