Twinning Begins On Dangerous Stretch Of Highway

Construction began today on a mainland section of the Trans-Canada that’s seen a large number of serious accidents in the past 10 years.

The province is spending $718 million to twin the section between Antigonish and Sutherland’s River in Pictou County.

The contract to design, build, finance and operate the stretch of highway was awarded in May.

The project is expected to be done by the end of 2023.
