Delays Today on Barra Strait Bridge

The provincial Department of Transportation is warning drivers to expect delays today on the Barra Strait Bridge between Grand Narrows and Iona.

A new drive motor is being installed at the west side of the bridge and testing is scheduled to take place until 6:00, this evening.

The Transportation Department says drivers can take a detour by using the Trans Canada Highway.

The bridge has been closed to boating traffic since June 25th when the problem with its swing mechanism was first discovered.
