Ingonish Beach mental health advocate to join the Order of Nova Scotia

An Ingonish Beach-based mental health advocate and former mayor of New Glasgow will be inducted into the Order of Nova Scotia on Tuesday.

Ann MacLean is one of the founders of Metropolitan Mental Health Group Homes Association, and the Tearmann Society for Abused Women.

She is also the longest-serving mayor of New Glasgow, and the first female mayor.

She is the only Atlantic Canadian woman to be elected President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

The ceremony will be webcast live at novascotia.ca.
