by Some voters in the Northside-Westmount riding will be gathering at the riding’s electoral office tomorrow, to protest how Elections Nova Scotia handled write-in ballots cast prior to the switch-up of PC candidates.
PC leader Tim Houston pulled Danny Laffin and replaced him with Murray Ryan, saying Laffin failed to comply with the party’s disclosure process.
Any vote cast for the PC Party prior to Laffin’s removal will now count toward Ryan, unless Laffin’s name was specifically written on the ballot.
However, some of Laffin’s supporters say they marked their ballots for the PC Party, because at the time Laffin was the PC candidate.
They want Elections Nova Scotia to allow them to recast their ballots.
They’ll be protesting in front of the electoral office at the North Sydney Mall tomorrow at 10 to get ENS to change their minds.
Five others are running in Northside-Westmount – Thomas Bethell for the Atlantica Party, Ronald Crowther for the NDP, Andrew Doyle as an independent, and Paul Ratchford for the Liberals.
