Nomination Meetings Getting Underway

Conservatives in the Sydney-Victoria riding are holding nomination meetings over the next few days to pick their candidate in the coming federal election.

The meetings start tonight at the Southend Community Centre in Sydney at 6 o’clock.

Former Transportation Department worker Danny Laffin and Northside-Westmount MLA Eddie Orrell are seeking the nomination.

Meanwhile, the Sydney-Victoria Liberals will hold a nomination meeting tomorrow to decide who will replace Mark Eyking on the ballot after the long-time Liberal MP announced he won’t be re-offering.

The Liberal nod in the riding is being sought by Mi’kmaw professor and writer Jaime Battiste, former international banker Caleb Gibbons from Albert Bridge, Regional Councillor Earlene MacMullin, and former City of Toronto employee and community volunteer Jon Yazer.
