Serious Injury, Power Outage After Grand Lake Rd. Accident

Regional Police say one person has been sent to hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle accident that’s closed part of the Sydney-Glace Bay Highway this morning.

They say drivers are being detoured at the Gardiner turnoff, and traffic is expected to be affected for several hours.

People will be able to reach CBU from the Sydney side.

The accident has also led to a power outage at CBU, and Nova Scotia Power estimates the university will be back online by 3 o’clock this afternoon.

The university has been closed for the morning because of the outage.
