Cabot Trail relay underway

Almost 1,200 runners on 70 teams are on the Cabot Trail this weekend, taking part in the Cabot Trail Relay Race.
The runners started the race at St. Ann’s Gaelic College at seven this morning, and the race wraps up at the Baddeck courthouse tomorrow morning at 9:30.
The relay is a 17-stage relay race through the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the Margaree Valley, and along theTrail, on a course that is almost 275 kilometres long.
This year’s event marks the 31st anniversary of the Cabot Trail Relay Race
Since the event began in 1988, over 23,000 runners have participated. It’s estimated the event has brought more than $8 million to communities around the Cabot Trail.
