Twinning Ceremony With Polish City, Today

Mayor Cecil Clarke will formally sign a partner city agreement with the mayor of Wałbrzych, Poland, this morning.

Regional Council and the council in the Polish city passed resolutions in June recognizing each other as partner cities.

The Regional Municipality says both communities have a similar population size as well as post-industrial neighbourhoods.

Another connection is a long-standing Polish community in Cape Breton.

Delegations from both communities will be linked by technology for this morning’s ceremony.

It’s due to get underway at 9:00 in the library of Whitney Pier Memorial Middle School.
