Canso Causeway Will Be Shutdown By Protest, Today

Protestors will block the Canso Causeway today in memory of a woman found dead in We’koma’q and all missing and murdered aboriginal women.

The body of 22 year-old Cassidy Bernard was discovered in her home in the Mi’kmaq community next to Whycocomagh on October 24th.

RCMP have not officially called Bernard’s death a murder.

They do say her death is suspicious and also say they don’t believe it was a random act.

The Red Dress protest is due to get underway at noon and last about 45 minutes.

The We’koma’q band is offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in Bernard’s death.
