An overnight fire has destroyed the Villa Madonna Retreat House in Little Bras D’Or.
North Sydney Fire Chief Lloyd MacIntosh says the fire started just before 11 last night.
The Florence fire department received the initial call and requested assistance from the Georges River and North Sydney fire departments.
MacIntosh says one firefighter was slightly injured, but is now in good condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The 3-story retreat house was operated by the Diocese of Antigonish until 2014, and was sold in 2017. The building was empty at the time of the fire.
