Three organizations that represent doctors in the province have released six recommendations they say will stabilize the physician workforce.
The recommendations have been put together by Doctors Nova Scotia, Maritime Resident Doctors and the Dalhousie Medical Students’ Society.
They’re calling on the province to offer doctors competitive compensation and a healthier environment to practice medicine.
They also want to see a new blended payment model for family medicine and a reduction in the administrative burden for doctors.
They say Nova Scotia doctors are among the lowest paid in the country and are often the lowest paid in Atlantic Canada.
They argue the province needs a competitive advantage when it comes to keeping doctors and recruiting new ones.
