Cape Breton Eligible Under New Nurse Practitioner Incentive Program

Cape Breton, Victoria and Inverness Counties are three of eight areas in the province that will be eligible in a new incentive program to train nurse practitioners.

The Nurse Practitioner Education Incentive will cover the salaries of up to 10 registered nurses while they take Dalhousie University’s two-year nurse practitioner program full-time.

In return, the nurses will commit to work in one of the eight areas for five years.

An arrangement with Cape Breton University will allow students to complete some program requirements on the Island.

The province also announced today it’s funding an extra 25 seats in Dalhousie’s nurse practitioner program

Fifteen seats will be added this academic year and 10 will be added in 2019-20.
