Police Say Driver Of Car That Hit And Killed Teen Was Not Impaired

Regional Police say the driver of the car that hit and killed a 17-year-old North Sydney boy was not impaired.

Joneil Hanna died after he was hit by a car while walking along Highway 223 in Leitches Creek, early Sunday morning.

Police say they continue to investigate and are waiting for results of an analysis of the car.

Police also say they were called twice about a party with young people at a home on the Leitches Creek Highway between 1:00 and 3:00 on Sunday morning.

Police say they did not go on to the property but made regular patrols of the area throughout the night.

They say officers also monitored people leaving the party to make sure drivers were sober.
