Police Watchdog Investigating After Women Seriously Hurt In Jump From Regional Hospital Roof

The province’s police watchdog is investigating after a woman arrested by Regional Police suffered serious injuries when she jumped off the roof at the Regional Hospital in Sydney.

The Serious Incident Response Team says police got a call from concerned family members about a woman threatening to jump off an overpass on Highway 105 on Sunday night.

It says the 22 year-old was arrested under the Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act and was taken to the Regional Hospital for assessment.

The SIRT says the women got away from police at the hospital and later jumped off the roof.

It says she suffered two broken legs and two compressed discs.
