A labour agreement has been ratified by members of the four unions representing Nova Scotia health care workers.
The province’s four Councils of Health Care Unions voted 92% today in favour of an agreement with The Nova Scotia Health Authority and the IWK.
The deal means both sides have agreed there will no strikes or lockouts during a mediation process to work out disputes that haven’t been dealt with at the bargaining table.
The agreement also includes wage increases over a six-year term from 2014-2020.
William Kaplan has been appointed as mediator, with talks set to begin on July 30th.
Under the agreement, all four health councils have to complete mediation by the end of the year unless both sides agree to an extension.
