Charges Laid In Bras d’Or Fire

A Sydney Mines Man has been charged in connection to a fire at a business in Bras d’Or last weekend.

54 year-old Phillip Raymond Leblanc is charged with Arson and Possession of an Incendiary Material, as well as Possession of a Break-In Instrument and Wearing a Disguise with Intent.

Regional Police responded to Scott MacNeil Motors just after 10 o’clock on Saturday night.

They say fire was immediately deemed suspicious.

LeBlanc was arrested yesterday and was kept in custody overnight ahead of a court appearance today.

Police say they’re continuing to investigate an earlier suspicious fire involving several travel trailers at the same place.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police or Crime Stoppers.
