Bail Denied For 1 of 2 Assault Accused

Bail was denied today for one of two Glace Bay men facing a number of charges after another man was assaulted in Glace Bay on Monday night.

48 year-old Craig Joe O’Neil faces counts including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, forcible entry, break and enter and two counts of breaching court orders.

He’s due back in court on Monday for another bail hearing.

Meanwhile, 25 year-old Craig Michael Doyle was released on an undertaking today and he’s due back in court for a plea hearing on May 3rd.

His charges include assault causing bodily harm, break and enter, forcible entry and breaching a court order.

O’Neil and Doyle were arrested after police say two men came into an apartment on Fletcher Street in Glace Bay, assaulted a man inside and then left.

A 29-year-old man was taken to the Regional Hospital in Sydney for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the injured man and his attackers all know each other.
