A group of parents is urging the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board to reverse its decision to close Sherwood Park Education Centre in Sydney.
The group says dozens of parents will be showing up at tonight’s school board meeting at Sherwood Park School to make their case.
The Board plans to close Sherwood Park by 2020.
The parents say higher than projected enrollment, the roll-out of the pre-primary program, the major flood in the area of Brooklyn Elementary in Sydney, as well as the province’s plan to dissolve elected English school boards are all reasons to give the closure decision a second look.
The group says it’s also lobbying Education Minister Zach Churchill to allow for the re-examination of the decision.
