by The RCMP has been sentenced to pay a total penalty of $550,000 over Labour Code violations connected to the shooting of officers in Moncton.
The penalty includes a fine of $100,000 plus $450,000 in donations to various charities.
The causes include scholarships in the names of the fallen officers and a trust fund of children of slain Mounties.
The force was found guilty in September of not providing proper guns to its officers during the 2014 shooting that left three Mounties dead and two others wounded.
The Crown was looking for the judge to impose the maximum penalty of a million dollars.
The defence was looking for about half that amount.
