Police Trying To Find Out Who Dropped Off Unexploded Shell

Regional Police are trying to find out who dropped off an unexploded artillery shell yesterday outside the camp for soldiers taking part in a military exercise in Sydney.

A military spokesperson says a vehicle drove up to the main gate of the camp in Open Hearth Park shortly after lunch and left the shell behind.

The military says an ordnance specialist from Halifax will deal with the shell.

It also says the unexploded ordnance does not pose any risk to the public.

Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to call Regional Police.
