Cape Breton’s Unemployment Rate Is Up, Again

The latest numbers from Stats Canada show Cape Breton’s unemployment rate went up again last month.

The jobless rate of 14.5 percent is seven tenths of a point higher than September.

It’s a full 1.4 points higher than October of last year.

Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate went up by a tenth of a point to 6:3 percent last week.

Stats Canada blames the increase on more young people looking for work.
