Woman Charged in Sydney Bypass Fatal Hit and Run Due in Court, Today

A fifth person charged in connection to the hit and run death of Cheticamp veteran Jackie Deveau is due back in court today to enter pleas.

23 year-old Chelsey Anne Marie Pinkston from Sydney Mines and Balls Creek faces a count of being an accessory after the fact to the offence of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
She’s accused of helping Thomas Smith by trying to delete evidence from his cellphone and co-ordinating the destruction of his car.
26 year-old Smith from Sydney faces a number of charges in the case, including dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death and obstruction of justice.

Desveau was killed on the Sydney Bypass in March while trying to flag down cars near the Mira Road exit.
