It looks like the Mira Gut Bridge will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
The bridge was closed to all traffic for an undetermined amount of time late last month.
A spokesperson for the provincial Department of Transportation says a problem with the swing mechanism in the bridge first led to the closure.
An underwater inspection was ordered and that showed the bridge needs a more in-depth engineering evaluation.
The Department says the results of that evaluation are expected in the coming weeks.
The bridge closure means drivers have to detour through either Horne’s Road at one end of the bridge or Brickyard Road at the other end.
