Sentencing Hearing For Berthiaume, Today

A Ben Eoin man who pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death of 25 year-old Brandon Kelly in Reserve Mines is due back in court today for a sentencing hearing.

26 year-old Brandon James Berthiaume was originally charged with first degree murder in connection to the June 2015 shooting.
He was scheduled to go to trial in October.
Berthiaume has also pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of Norman MacIntyre after police say shots were fired at MacIntyre, as well.

The Crown has dropped charges against Berthiaume’s mother, Jennifer Lynn Chisholm.

The 46-year-old Ben Eoin woman had been charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder in the case.
