CB Unemployment Rate Down, Last Month

The latest numbers from Stats Canada show Cape Breton’s unemployment rate dropped by one percentage point last month, compared to May.

The jobless rate of 13 percent is also three tenths of a percentage point lower than June of last year.

Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate last month was 6.5%.

That’s a drop of a tenth of a percentage point compared to May.

Stats Canada says there were 45,000 new jobs in June, but most were part-time.
