Flood-Damaged Buildings To Be Torn Down

Municipal Affairs Minister Derek Mombourquette says eighteen flood-damaged buildings in Sydney will be torn down beginning next month.

The properties have become the target of vandals and arsonists since sitting idle after the Thanksgiving Day flood.

A suspicious fire on Monday damaged one of the buildings— a vacant apartment building on St. Peters Road.

Mombourquette, who’s also the MLA for Sydney Whitney Pier, says the demolition process is expected to last until early fall.
