Another Candidate Leaves Campaign Over Online Comments

Another candidate has left the provincial election campaign over inappropriate comments made online.

Former Dartmouth East NDP hopeful Bill McEwen says he regrets his behaviour and wants to take responsibility for his actions.

McEwen stepped down in the wake of a media report about sexist content on a website he hosted and his use of derogatory language to describe people who are gay.

Last week, the Liberals dropped Pictou East candidate Matt McKnight over inappropriate social media commentary.

He was replaced by John Fraser, the father of Central Nova M-P Sean Fraser.

However, the NDP won’t be able to run a replacement candidate in Dartmouth East because the deadline for nominations has passed.
