Sentencing for Eskasoni Man Found Guilty of Murder

A sentencing hearing is due to take place today for an Eskasoni man found guilty of second-degree murder.

Sentencing for Albert Micheal Bernard has already been postponed twice.

Bernard was convicted in November in the fatal beating of Dale Dennis in Eskasoni in July of 2015.

In delivering her verdict in the case, Justice Robin Gogan says evidence shows Bernard beat Dennis on the head and neck with enough force to break his own hand.
She adds he also stomped on Dennis a number of times while wearing steel-toed boots.
Dennis died in the ambulance on the way to hospital after the attack.
Bernard is being held in custody to await sentencing.
