Kyley Harris has resigned from his job on the provincial Liberal election campaign as well as from his post at the Liberal caucus office.
Stephen McNeil was criticized for showing poor judgment in rehiring his former director of communications after Harris pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in 2014.
In his resignation letter, Harris thanks the Liberal leader for giving him a second chance.
But Harris adds he’s realized it’s not possible for him to move on from what he describes as his past mistake in the current political climate.
He was handed a conditional discharge in the assault case and hired back months later to do research in the Liberal caucus office.
