CBU Deal By Midweek

Faculty Association spokesperson Andrew Reynolds says talks between the union and Cape Breton University continued over the weekend after a strike was averted on Friday.

The Association was prepared to issue a notice to strike by today before both sides announced they’ve made significant progress on the so-called layoff clause.

The clause has been the main outstanding issue in the dispute.
Reynolds adds they’re close to reaching an agreement, but goes on to say there are still things to tidy up.

It’s hoped a deal will be reached by the middle the week.
