Teachers Phase Out Work-to-Rule, Starting Today

Teachers will begin to phase out their work-to-rule job action today after it was announced on Friday both sides had reached a third tentative agreement.

Teachers Union president Liette Doucet says some school sports and clubs will return immediately but adds others won’t.

The job action began on December 5th and saw the cancellation of many extra-curricular activities including sports and Christmas concerts.

The Coal Bowl basketball tournament in New Waterford was also a victim of the job action.

Meanwhile, there’s word a modified version of the 40th Red Cup hockey tournament hosted by Riverview High in Coxheath could still go ahead.

Teachers are due to vote on their latest contract offer on February 8th after already rejecting two other tentative agreements.
