Melvin Sangster Being Fondly Remembered

Tributes are pouring in for local charity operator Melvin Sangster.

The co-ordinator of Harvest House died in his sleep at his Donkin home on Friday at the age of 63.

Harvest house provided hot meals and clothing to homeless people at its former locations in Glace Bay and North Sydney.

The North Sydney operation closed in 2014 while Harvest House in Glace Bay lost its home when the Main Street building was torn down in 2015.

However, Sangster and his wife, Hazel, continued the operation from their truck since the closure.

He was working to get Harvest House set up at the former St. Leo’s Church in Glace Bay.

The Moncton founder of the organization says that plan will still go ahead.
