Mayor Holding Port Info Session

Regional Mayor Cecil Clarke is holding a public information session this morning after Monday’s announcement of an operator for a proposed container ship terminal in Sydney.

The event is due to start at the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion in Sydney at 10:30.

On Monday, it was announced, the private consultants given exclusive rights to market the project have signed a deal with New Jersey-based Ports America.

The company is the largest container terminal operator in North America.

Meanwhile, Clarke says he intends to ask council to approve a five-year extension of Sydney Harbour Investment Partners’ exclusive rights to develop a container terminal.

That request will come at tomorrow afternoon’s council meeting.
