The manger of the Cape Breton Miners’ Museum in Glace Bay says this month’s storms have caused more structural damage to the already compromised building.
Mary Pat Mombourquette adds the heavy rain and high winds from the October 10th storm along with more rain and wind on Saturday have caused the roof to leak badly.
She adds the damage has been contained to the upstairs, but goes on to say things aren’t going to hold for much longer.
The Regional Municipality along with both the federal and provincial governments have agreed to cost share the estimated 1.5 million dollars in repairs.
But Mombourquette says they can’t wait much longer for repairs to be done and adds the cost of the fix will likely go up as the damage worsens.
