Infrastructure Money For CBRM

The Regional Municipality’s director of engineering and public works says federal funding announced yesterday will cover more than 30 projects.

Wayne MacDonald adds four sewer pumping stations will be replaced, and more than 100 components of storm water work will be carried out.

He goes on to say water mains that are more than a century old in some cases will also be replaced.

MacDonald says most of the work will be completed next year.

Ottawa is kicking in 50 percent of the cost for the projects with the province and the CBRM each providing 25 percent.

Combined spending includes 8 million dollars for water and waste water projects.

The Regional Municipality and Ottawa are each covering half the 1.26 million cost to buy three more transit buses and nearly 95-thousand to buy one accessible bus.
